Measures to Protect Victims
Government and Non-Government Organisations join hands to adopt measures to protect and support victims.
Social Welfare Bureau:
Sheltered Centre: to arrange victims to live in a sheltered centre and take care of their daily living.
Social Support: to provide victims with suitable financial assistance and psychological counselling.
Society Reintegration: to provide victims with training courses to help her return to her society in future.
Health Bureau:
Physical Examination: to provide victims with general or more detailed medical examination;
Medical Services: to provide victims with medical care;
Hospitalised Services: to arrange victims for admittance into hospital according to clinical need and to ensure victims will not be discriminated and harassed;
Mental/Psychological Therapy: to provide victims with in-hospital clinical mental/psychological counselling and therapy, according to clinical need.
Public Security Police Force:
Report Hotline 28889911: to provide victims and members of the public with a channel for reporting.
Physical Protection: to give a victim physical protection when she is physically under threat*.
Grant of Stay: to grant a victim legal stay in Macao during the period when she receives support and assists in criminal investigation and prosecution.
Outside Contact: to inform a victim's family/friend and/or her government, when she has given her consent.
The Women's General Association of Macau:
Helpine 28889922: a non-police channel to reduce a victim's psychological barrier to seeking help.
Good Shepherd Centre:
Translation services : to provide more channels of translation service
Counselling services for victims : to help build up a victim's trust
*including her life, physical completeness, freedom or a substantial amount of property is being in danger.
