Some time ago, news reported that a British pedophiliac rock singer was refused of entry by 19 countries. He was imprisoned 3 years for sexually assaulted a girl in Vietnam in 2005. After serving his sentence, the singer was just recently released. To escape from being monitored after returned to UK, he rejected to go on broad while he was making a transfer flight in Bangkok. He claimed that long flying journey would cause him chest pain. The Bangkok government could only send him back to Hong Kong on the same plane. However, the Hong Kong government rejected his entrance and the British singer was sent back to Bangkok straight after. This left him no choice but to return to his home country in UK. The previous rock star has now become an undesirable party. He gets what he deserves!
Pedophilia is a shameful conduct. According to Macao’s Code of Penal, sexual assault is convicted when a sexual intercourse by one person with or against the other person happens without the consent of the victim. The offender is condemned a 3-year to 12-year imprisonment. If the victim is under the age of 14, the penalty could lead up to 16 years. On the other hand, having sex intercourse with minors under the consent of the victim shall still be regarded as a crime which is subjected to imprisonment of up to 10 years. If the victim aged between 14 and 16 and the sexual activity is carried out under the ignorance (e.g. ignorance about sex) of the victim, the offender shall be put in jail for up to 4 years.
In some Asian countries, the prosperity of sex industry directly doubles the number of women being trafficked. In worse cases, some children will even be trafficked to sex facilities for pedophilias. According to the Law of “Combat the Crime of Trafficking in Persons”, any advocacy party who traffic other parties for sex exploitation by means of provision, delivery, enticement, recruitment, harboring, or receipt of minors shall be punished for up to 15 years of imprisonment. If the victim is under the age of 14, the applicable penalty can be aggravated by one-third in its limits and the maximum shall be up to 20 years of imprisonment.
Furthermore, what if the world’s most undesirable party wants to visit Macao? Can we reject him? The answer is positive. According to the law, a tourist who has been imprisoned in Macao or other places, or has significant sign to be suspected of preparing for or having conducted a crime, immigration officers can refuse to grant entry to the tourist for safeguarding the public security and maintaining the social harmony of Macao.
