Workshop on Combating Trafficking of Children for Sexual Purposes

Organized by the Social Welfare Bureau, co-organized with the Public Security Police, the " Workshop on Combating Trafficking of Children for Sexual Purposes " was held on 28-30 September 2010 at the Tourism Activities Centre. Two professional instructors from ECPAT International were invited to give lectures at the three-day workshop. A total number of 60 participants attended the workshop. Participants include officers from the Public Security Police, Judicial Police, Macao Customs and Social Welfare Bureau, as well as social workers from government departments and NGOs, together with medical social workers and related professionals. The workshop intended to give participants a more thorough idea on trafficking in children, victim identification, and the physical and mental impact on children being trafficked, so as to enhance professional skills and capacity of law enforcement officers and staff when handling cases related to trafficking in children.
